We’ve considered things like their WiFi strength, availability of free water, the quality and price of their food and coffee, and, of course, whether they’re dog-friendly! What Makes a Cafe Good for Remote Work?
Before we jump into our list of the best laptop-friendly cafes in Da Nang for remote work, let’s briefly discuss our selection process. What does a coffee shop need to have in order to make it one of the best places in Da Nang to work? For us, there are a few key considerations we evaluate at each location:
- WiFi – First and foremost, the cafe needs to have strong WiFi. We tested the download and upload speeds at each location and included the results below. Ideally, the WiFi should be clearly displayed, not time-limited, and without any personal information required for log-in.
- Size & Vibe – We like to work in cafes, but never at the expense of the owner. We only select places that have enough seating that our working won’t inhibit their business, while also avoiding huge operations that feel sterile.
- Temperature – With Vietnam’s hot temperatures, A/C or fans are often a must, though we’ll take an ocean breeze now and then too.
- Noise – Everyone has their own preferences here, but we prefer a relatively quiet spot with a low level of ambient coffee shop sounds.
- Tables & Outlets – With any laptop-friendly cafe, we’re looking for a sufficient number of standard-height tables, chairs with back support, and available outlets. No one wants to hunch over a low-lying coffee table all day!
- Menu & Prices – It’s important to pay your way when spending hours working at a cafe, so we’ll make notes of the menu offerings and how their prices compare to Da Nang’s average. We’ll also note whether free water was available and whether the cafe was cash-only or accepted cards.
- Dog-Friendly – as we travel with our dog full-time, we always pay attention to this one! Thankfully, Da Nang is super pet-friendly, so this was usually a yes.
Be Prepared - Cash is King
Heads up – while many Da Nang cafes will accept credit card, there are still a lot of vendors that only accept cash, or accept card with an added fee. We recommend keeping at least 1 million VND (~$38) on hand at all times. You heard that right – 1 million VND. VND trades at approximately 25,000 VND to $1, so don’t be surprised when you’re withdrawing massive sums from the ATM. Note that ATM fees vary wildly here – we recommend TPBank and MB Bank for no-fee withdrawals. Avoid BIDV at all costs. And don’t forget our pro tip on withdrawing from ATMs in foreign countries!
Pro tip: When offered an exchange rate by an ATM, you can – and should – always decline the rate displayed. This rate often includes a heavy markup on top of the market exchange rate. Declining the rate will not stop your transaction, but rather allow your personal bank to set the rate instead.
The Best Places in Da Nang to Work
We’ve split our list of the best laptop-friendly cafes in Da Nang for remote work into two sections – indoor Da Nang coffee shops and outdoor Da Nang cafes. Nearly all options offer coffee and food of some type, so we’ll use “coffee shop” and “cafe” interchangeably. Indoor cafes typically offer an indoor/outdoor option, while the outdoor locations are outdoor only. Use this to help you match your mood or the weather.
Indoor Da Nang Coffee Shops
Indoor cafes tend to be the best for prolonged work sessions, offering protection from the elements and an increased chance of proper tables and outlets. If you’re looking to really knuckle down, head to one of these top cafes in Da Nang for remote work.
Z! Coffee & Roastery was one of my favorite, well-rounded Da Nang cafes for remote work. It’s very worker-friendly, offers a full-day brunch with moderate prices, and has plenty of suitable seating. Plus, the interior has a lot of natural light, which always helps me stay happy and motivated.
- WiFi: Free and strong (173 mbps download, 9 mbps upload)
- Size & Vibe: Plenty of seating and lots of workers. Vibe is light, airy, and focused.
- Temperature: A/C inside, outside seating also available
- Noise: Moderate ambient noise
- Tables & Outlets: Lots of standard tables and outlets, but they’re two-prong only (bring a converter if you have a three-prong charger)
- Menu & Prices: Average. Black coffee is 40K VND (~$1.50), and food ranges from 55K-150K VND (~$2.00-$5.50). Free water is offered and credit cards are welcomed.
- Dog-friendly: Outdoors only
If a delicious meal is high on your priorities for the day, then Hideout Cafe is one of the best places in Da Nang to work. Their food is sooo good (don’t miss the mango smoothie!), but they’re still very laptop-friendly for being more of a restaurant-style option. They also have a really lovely industrial-chic aesthetic, with lots of natural light and greenery throughout. It’s easily a place where you could spend hours cranking away on a project.
- WiFi: Free and publicly displayed, speed is average (21 mbps download, 2 mbps upload)
- Size & Vibe: Plenty of seating, vibe is welcoming and focused
- Temperature: A/C inside, outside seating also available
- Noise: Comfortable ambient noise with soothing jazz music in the background
- Tables & Outlets: Several standard tables with outlets available
- Menu & Prices: Excellent food and below-average prices. A salted coffee is just 35K VND (~$1.25) and most meals are under 100K VND (~$4). Free water offered and credit cards are welcomed.
- Dog-friendly: Yes!
Home to one of my favorite salads in town (the chicken avocado, don’t miss it), Dng.coffee is another popular Da Nang cafe for remote work. In fact, it’s so worker-friendly that they even have a second-floor “quiet zone” workspace for the truly dedicated. The interior is open and airy with a more industrial feel, but not at all sterile. They also serve Western-style coffee in case you’re really missing that caramel macchiato.
- WiFi: Free, and the strongest on our list (152 mbps download, 53 mbps upload)
- Size & Vibe: Tons of seating, and the vibe is relaxed and focused. Second floor “quiet zone” is good for those who need a distraction-free workspace.
- Temperature: Indoor seating is a touch on the warm side, most comfortable in the mornings. Outdoor seating is also available.
- Noise: Pretty quiet downstairs, and extra quiet upstairs
- Tables & Outlets: Lots of standard tables and a high number of outlets
- Menu & Prices: Food and coffee prices are a bit above average (45K VND or ~$1.75 for black coffee, 90K-150K VND or ~$3.50-$5.75 for food). Beer is also available here. Free water readily available and credit cards are welcomed.
- Dog-friendly: Yes!
If you’re looking for a cozy Da Nang coffee shop to spend a few hours in, we highly recommend Cafe Dalky. It’s got a super cute aesthetic, and is a smaller cafe for those that like a more intimate environment. They also serve an incredible egg coffee, so it’s worth stopping by even if you’re only looking for a drink. It can get a bit warm inside and doesn’t have the best natural light, so it may not be the best option for longer work stints. But if you need a refreshing break from your normal remote work haunt for a couple of hours, it’s a great choice.
- WiFi: Free, but mixed speeds (138 mbps download, 1 mbps upload)
- Size & Vibe: Small and intimate, but enough tables that you won’t interfere with business. Can be a bit dark due to natural light not penetrating far past the front door.
- Temperature: Indoor can be a bit warm (they have an A/C unit, but don’t always use it). Outdoor seating is also available.
- Noise: Comfortable ambient coffee shop noise
- Tables & Outlets: Several standard tables with outlets, though not a huge amount due to its smaller size
- Menu & Prices: Breakfast is offered in addition to coffee (including banh mi and waffles), and prices are below-average (just 25K VND or ~$1 for black coffee, but you have to try their egg coffee for 50K VND or ~$2). Food options range from 40K-60K VND or ~$1.50-$2.25. Free water is available and credit cards are welcomed.
- Dog-friendly: Outdoor only
Gozar isn’t the most aesthetic option on our list of the best cafes in Da Nang to work, but it gets the job done. It’s a good place to go if you want reasonable prices and minimal distractions in a well-air conditioned interior. It also has the fastest upload speeds on our list, so it’s a good choice if this is important for your work. Make sure to head to their second floor for the most seating and outlet options.
- WiFi: Free, best for those that need fast upload speeds (13 mbps download, 99 mbps upload)
- Size & Vibe: Lots of seating, especially on second floor, but the vibe is a bit sterile
- Temperature: A/C indoors, and outdoor seating is also available
- Noise: A bit loud on the first floor, but quiet and focused on the second floor
- Tables & Outlets: Lots of standard tables and sufficient outlets, particularly on the second floor
- Menu & Prices: Food and coffee prices are a bit below average, but also on the lower end for quality. Black coffee is 35K VND (~$1.25) and food prices range from 35K-85K VND (~$1.25-$3). Free water is available and credit cards are welcomed.
- Dog-friendly: Outdoors only
Calling all proud coffee snobs! 43 Specialty Coffee is the place for you. This is one of the trendiest Da Nang coffee shops, and its menu is for the true aficionados. This is the kind of place where the hipster baristas will educate you on the beans’ origins and expect you to drink your coffee black. Milk-based options are available, but may raise some eyebrows. To be honest, it was a bit too posh for our taste, and pricey as well, but we’ve included it for completeness as there are certainly plenty of people who will appreciate it.
- WiFi: We didn’t test this, but it’s a popular spot with remote workers, so we expect it’s free and sufficient
- Size & Vibe: Lots of seating. The interior is open and airy, though a bit sterile, but the exterior is especially popular for its koi ponds and sunken seating.
- Temperature: Comfortable, with A/C and fans
- Noise: Quiet, but a bit echoey
- Tables & Outlets: Lots of standard tables and outlets
- Menu & Prices: Well above average – “most expensive coffee” is one of the most popular phrases in Google reviews. Black coffee starts at a whopping 125K VND (~$4.75), and breakfast and lunch food offerings range from 95K-190K VND (~$3.50-$7.25). Free water is offered and credit cards are welcomed.
- Dog-friendly: Yes!
Outdoor Da Nang Cafes
While working at an outdoor cafe isn’t always feasible (outlets, anyone?), sometimes it’s nice to enjoy some sunshine for a few hours. Below are our three favorite places to work in Da Nang when the beach or the breeze beckon.
One of our favorite places to hang out in Da Nang was undeniably this vibey beach lounge in An Thuong. With both traditional tables “inside” and a beach dotted with plush white couches and umbrellas, it’s the perfect place to relax with a coffee – or cocktail – and enjoy Da Nang’s gorgeous My An beach. But be warned! It’s the kind of place that makes you feel rich already, and you’ll likely want to put off that work for another day, especially when the DJ comes out around 2 or 3pm.
- WiFi: Free, but relatively slow (5 mbps download, 4 mbps upload)
- Size & Vibe: Plenty of seating, vibe is unparalleled
- Temperature: Outdoors
- Noise: Comfortable ambient noise. Some beach sounds, and a DJ plays in the afternoon and evenings, but it’s generally pretty chill lounge/house music.
- Tables & Outlets: It’s not the most laptop-friendly cafe in Da Nang, with just a handful of normal tables and no outlets. Expect more hightops and beach couches.
- Menu & Prices: Food and coffee prices are particularly pricey (200-400K VND or ~$7.50-$15 for food and 65K or ~$2.50 for black coffee), but cocktails are pretty moderate for an on-beach bar (~170K VND or ~$6.50). No free water was offered, but credit cards are welcomed.
- Dog-friendly: Yes!
Cafe Phuong was one of the loveliest Da Nang coffee shops we visited. It’s beautifully landscaped to feel like a rainforest garden with a koi pond and waterfall in the middle. Due to its limited food and outlets, it’s better for short work stints, but the coffee is delicious and the aesthetic is unbeatable.
- WiFi: Free and publicly posted, but we forgot to grab the speed on this one (sorry!)
- Size & Vibe: Plenty of seating, and the vibe is so peaceful. Great for casual conversation or a short work stint.
- Temperature: Outdoors
- Noise: Quiet ambient noise
- Tables & Outlets: A couple of standard tables, but mostly hightops, short seats, or adirondack chairs and low lying tables. Minimal to no outlets.
- Menu & Prices: Average (45K or ~$1.75 for white coffee). White and salted coffees were delicious, but they only serve pastries to eat. Free water provided, and credit cards are welcomed.
- Dog-friendly: Yes!
GOLO Coffee is a great work option as it’s open-air, but fully covered in case of rain. They also have the unique distinction of being the only outdoor cafe on our list with plenty of standard tables and outlets! It’s nothing particularly fancy, but it’s a well-rounded option that will work well for longer work sessions, while still allowing you to enjoy the weather.
- WiFi: Free, publicly posted, and quite strong (85 mbps download, 2 mbps upload)
- Size & Vibe: Plenty of seating, and lots of workers. Vibe is average, though there is a lovely koi pond and waterfall at the front.
- Temperature: Outdoors, but covered for rain
- Noise: A little on the noisier side as it’s on a busy street
- Tables & Outlets: Lots of standard tables and outlets, including in front of the koi pond!
- Menu & Prices: Prices are slightly below average (39K VND or ~$1.50 for salted coffee). Unfortunately, there are only beverages at this coffee shop, so you’ll need to grab a bite elsewhere. Free water is provided but they are cash-only.
- Dog-friendly: Yes!

What Should I Order at a Da Nang Coffee Shop?
Vietnamese coffee is some of the best in the world, especially if you have a sweet tooth. What makes it so special? A combination of the bolder, nuttier flavor of the beans used, the tradition of adding other elements like cocoa butter and salt to the grounds, and the unique specialty drinks they make. A standard “black” coffee is brewed one cup at a time using a phin, a unique Vietnamese pour-over tool that provides a strong cup of rich-flavored coffee. Popular specialty drinks include white coffee (with sweetened condensed milk), salted coffee (with condensed milk and whipped salted cold foam on top), and coconut coffee (with condensed milk and coconut cream, often frozen). A particularly special choice is egg coffee, which is made with egg yolk, honey, and vanilla. It became popular during a time in history when condensed milk wasn’t available, though they often add it now.
Be prepared though! Vietnamese coffee is made with robusta beans, which are two to three times stronger than the arabica beans we typically use in Western coffee. Make sure to pace yourself!
When is the Best Time to Visit Da Nang as a Remote Worker?
Da Nang is a growing hot spot for digital nomads, and is a particularly popular “next stop” after Thailand. Remote workers tend to move here once the burning season kicks off in Chiang Mai in January. As such, laptop friendly cafes in Da Nang for remote work will be busiest from mid-January to the end of April. But busier cafes also come with more social events and opportunities to meet and mingle with other digital nomads! Which Neighborhood Has the Best Places in Da Nang to Work?
For both work and play, we highly recommend staying in the An Thuong area. Most of our Da Nang cafes and coffee shops are located here, and for good reason – this is where most of the digital nomads and remote workers tend to live and work. This neighborhood has an exciting mix of Vietnamese and Western influences thanks to its popularity among digital nomads and immigrants. This means a wide array of dining options and a vibrant nightlife scene. As an added bonus, it’s right next to the beach!
